The background was done using StazOn Timber Brown ink by masking off the center of the flower and stamping the petals. I then masked off the petals and stamped the doodles, all of which I colored in with Prismacolor pencils and used odorless mineral spirits to blend them. The edges are sponged with So Saffron and Close to Cocoa ink.
For the sentiment layer I used Close to Cocoa ink and stamped off the first image on scratch paper to achieve a watermark like image. I also masked off the center of the flower for this one. I used pastels to lightly color in the petals. I then stamped the sentiment over the watermark like image and punched it out using a mega circle punch.
I used my SU Chocolate Chip marker to doodle the edges of both the Saffron layers. The top Saffron layer is raised using pop dots for some dimension. While this card was very time consuming, it was still a lot of fun! In the words of my wonderful husband, the card is, "freakin' awesome!" LOL! I don't necessarily think that, but I am happy with the finished product.

IMO there are two big differences.
With the Prismacolor pencils you can use them as just plain colored pencils or you can use odorless mineral spirits to blend them to get the affect you've seen on this card. I'm sure there are other techniques you can use with them I haven't found yet.
The second big difference is because the Prismacolors are pencils you can sharpened them and you have more control over where the color is going.
A nice benefit of the pencils is you can buy replacements if you use one up.
Don't get me wrong, I love my WWCs! I actually bought the regular WWC by Lyra so I could have more natural color options as well as the regular SU colors.
WWCs also have a nice benefit that you can achieve the same look as you would get using alcohol inks by mixing the crayon with alcohol.
Depending on my mood and what I'm coloring will decide which medium I use. They are both must haves for me.
